I will be going to Costa Rica at the end of October 2020. I’m excited to kick off the world race by going to a place where I’ve been before. I went to Costa Rica in Summer 2017 for a week with a group of girls as we served people and adventured through rainforests and walked along the beaches. This trip was life changing since it was my first solo trip where I didn’t know anyone that was going on the trip. I was able to serve people and help animals by making sloth homes, painting houses and playing with kids; all things I enjoyed doing. So knowing I’m going back to serve others in a beautiful place brings me so much joy.

Here are five facts about Costa Rica that you may not know.

•During Christmas Eve, families stay up till midnight, eat a huge meal, and then on Christmas Day, families exchange presents and attend church.
•More than 25% of the land is saved for national parks and refuge.
•”Pura Vida” is a popular saying that means pure life. It also means, saying goodbye, asking how they are and or wishing someone good will.
•6,000 US dollars a year is the average salary.
•You would think milk is sold in cartons, but not here. They are sold in plastic bags.
