Something that I’ve been focusing on this fall is two words from the Bible. I’ve read this verse many times, but some for reason, I read the verse and it caught my attention differently this time. The verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray continually”.
A bad habit of mine was sometimes telling people I would pray for them and end up forgetting to pray. I had good intentions in wanting to pray for people, but would forget or simply realized that I didn’t pray to God that day. When I read this verse God made it known to me that this is something He wants to change in my heart. So this fall, I’ve started praying about things in the moment no matter what time it is. I stop whatever I’m doing to simply pray. Sometimes I stop and spend quite a bit of time praying and sometimes, it’s a quick prayer. Regardless of the length of prayer, it has helped in SO many ways. First, I am being obedient in what the Bible tells Christians to do; to pray continuously. Second, my relationship with the Lord has flourished because I am praying more in a single day. As a result of praying more, I start to think more and more like God and align who I am with who He is. Just two words changed my perspective and my relationship with God and this is just one of the things I’ve been learning this fall.
