*my time in Honduras is coming to an end. I already left the mountain and I’m staying at a beach house reflecting on my time on the mountain.

This blog I want to set the scene for what daily life on the mountain looked like.

When we first arrived on the mountain it was dark. We had to set up our tents, eat dinner and by that point I was ready for bed.

The next morning, I woke up and could finally see where I’d be living for months May and June. We camped on the side of a mountain and it was beautiful!

Paul and Tanya were our ministry hosts. Their ministry is called Catracha Mission. God called them to start a church in the mountains and we were grateful to be apart of this mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

There is 45 of us on the squad and we all camped here, plus Paul and Tania and others that worked with Catracha Mission. There were also high schoolers who decided to go to the mountain, work for Paul and Tania’s mission to serve and to translate Spanish and English for school credit. So there was a lot of people camping.

Our schedule was similar to this:

-Wake up and I’d have quiet time with the Lord. Whether that’s reading or listening to worship music.

-eat breakfast between 7-830am

-since I was a team leader, the other team leaders and I would talk with our squad leaders and with Paul to figure out what our day entails.

-then we meet just as leaders and discussed who is doing which work task for that day.

-we meet with our teams to give them the layout for the day and any other information.

-start work and work alongside the Hondurans.  (We worked till lunch)

-Have lunch between 12 and 2. Because of the heat, we would have an hour and a half break before we start work again.

-work till 5ish.

-after work many people would shower and hang out at the benches or in their tents.

-dinner around 6-7:30pm

-many people would play card games, talk, and hang out.

Sunday’s we had church, where anyone was welcome to come and dwell in the presence of the Lord. No building, but to gather, learn about God and have community.

We would have sabbath on Thursday’s where we did things that were restful. Sometimes sabbath was on the mountain and sometimes sabbath was at a hotel for a night.

We had adventure day on Fridays, but many places were far away or really bad Covid cases that we avoided. One adventure day we went to a waterfall but other than that, adventure days looked like eating at Dunkin’ Donuts, grocery shopping for snacks, walking around town etc.

Stay tune for my next blog about the ministry we did on the mountain!
