Here is an update on information that you may not know about my future travels with the World Race.
1. My launch date to leave for the World Race is still happening in October! However, things could change with when I will actually leave. I will know by August 1st if I will leave for the World Race in October.
2. Right now, I live in California; when do I plan to move back to Maryland? I am waiting till August 1st to see whether my trip will launch in October. If it does launch in October, I will sell my things and pack up my car and drive to MD in August. If I don't leave for my trip in October, I will stay in CA till the next launch date gets closer.
3. If COVID-19 delays my trips, all the funds I raise will go towards the next launch date. The next launch date will be January 2021 if I don't leave for the World Race in October.
4. When I leave may change, but the countries that I go to may change as well. This depends on airfare, if borders are open, the ministries available, health care options etc. So far, I am still going to Central America, South America and Asia.
5. Vaccines. Yes, I have to get vaccines for my trip and will do so at the end of the summer.
6. Gear. I need a lot of gear to make this trip happen, but remember it has to fit in my daypack (a school sized backpack) and a bigger backpack; 65 liter backpack to be exact. Other things I need are packing cubes, sleeping pad and sleeping bag, a tent, headlight, international outlet adapters, chaos (shoes), etc.
7. My last fundraising deadline for the World Race trip is a few months after I leave. (February 2021 if I leave in October 2020) If I leave in October, and don’t raise the money by February, then I have a conversation with administrators that work for the World Race to see how I can raise the rest and if I can’t, then I will be sent home.
8. How big is the team I'll be going with on the World Race? At this moment, there are about 45 people ranging from 21-32 years old.
If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
