The World Race Launch January 8-12, 2021

Covid didn’t just go away because we are now in 2021. Doing missionary work overseas already had its own obstacles like the language barrier, cultural background, values etc. Now we also have restrictions with covid and having to abide by other countries procedures.

I was expressing to my team that it will already be a challenge to communicate to people with language barriers, but now we might be wearing a mask, not being able to see facial expressions and might need to be six feet apart. Knowing all of this made me nervous that this may be my reality where I’ll be going. I was thinking how will we be able to have conversations and tell people about God with these restrictions.

Later that day, after I expressed this to my team, the squad leaders shared what they think the team mission is for this year. They wrote, “We are the church. Kingdom is our culture. We are transformed racers who together are passionately pursuing Jesus walking in redemption and experiencing revival.” One key part that stuck out to me is “Kingdom is our culture.” Guys, no matter what culture, no matter what language barrier, whether we are having to wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart from people we interact with, God is not restricted by these things. Gods kingdom is our culture that we will be living out. There will be breakthrough regardless of restrictions. The love of God will reach people no matter what it looks like. This reminder gave me peace and comfort. I find freedom in being able to let God handle my anxieties and to trust in Him.

Please come along side of me in praying that while I go to these countries that I choose boldness, to show Gods love, to let go of my anxieties with future encounters with people and to not be anxious about fundraising the rest of the money for this trip. That in all circumstance, God is good and will always be.

Update: I will land in Costa Rica January 13th and I am so excited for what God is going to do!
