The past month and a half I’ve been in Maryland living at my parents house.  Thankfully I was able to get paid and work from home. Visiting MD was different this time with COVID-19, since there was basically no where to go. But I still got to spend time with family and see friends on occasion. I stayed busy by taking walks, stacking fire wood, playing with my parents dogs and the new chicks. My family had movie night on the weekends and I ate delicious food cooked by my dad; which I’ve missed my dads cooking so much! Not every moment at home was fun. Sometimes there was arguing between us, but no matter what I love my family and was grateful for the time we shared together, whether that was time in Maryland or time spent in North Carolina. That’s right, I said it. My family did a spur of the moment trip to OBX, North Carolina. What an experience that was! Some states have opened things up and NC is one of those states. OBX is where I grew up going on vacation every year and with COVID-19, we needed some normalcy in our lives. Even though we slept in the truck because we didn’t have a camp site and I didn’t shower for a few days, I absolutely loved being at the beach for a few days.

It was bittersweet to leave Maryland for many reasons. I would miss my family/friends, the pets, my dads cooking etc. I knew I was going back to a state where things were not opening up like MD. But I found myself missing my home in Livermore, CA. I knew it was time to come back to California for a few reasons, which leads me to my next portion of my blog…what now?

June 4th, I’m going back to work and I’m excited. The school that I work at is open through the summer, which is a blessing. Even though my hours are cut and my job looks different with COVID-19, I am grateful to go back to my job, to see my coworkers and the kids. Since California is such a big state, some counties are slowly opening things back up, however, I am in the Bay Area where there is almost 8 million people that live here. So there is no way that we are opening things up yet. But in the mean time, for this month of June, I go to work, see friends in person from afar, travel to some national parks, go on hikes, pray for the broken world we live in and to raise funds for my future trip on the World Race. Whether I leave in October or next January etc., I am working towards what God put on my heart years ago.

This is what’s happening in my life right now. If you have questions, ask me!
