Japan is the first stop in Asia and I am so excited to be traveling through this part of the world. Japan has hills and mountains all over the country and has over 200 volcanoes. The country has the longest railroad tunnel that is 33 miles long called the Seikan Tunnel. Even though Japan has a lot of terrain, Tokyo has 13 million people live in this city and it is a very expensive city to live in. The most popular religion in Japan is Shintoism and the second most practiced religion is Buddhism. Finally, you may know that a popular dish to eat here is fish and rice, but another popular food to eat is raw horse meat. In case you didn’t know, in Japan, slurping your food means that you like to food and if the chef can hear you slurp that is a good thing.

Even though I’m not looking forward to a long plane ride from South America to Japan, I am grateful to be submersed in a culture to learn more about. If you have any advice on traveling to Asia and what to expect, let me know.
